kurume azalea
« on: November 06, 2013, 08:02 AM »
Hi everyone:
I live in zone 10b-New Orleans and was wondering if a Kurume azalea would survive in my area.
Also, does anyone know a good source to purchase them?

All those azaleas all over the "Garden District" are either Indica or Kurume hybrids. Anything in the way of an azalea should be fabulous grown there. Just keep an eye out for fungus and insects. Here is someone that might be able to more fully help you with azaleas.

Just a thought
In Hawaii they do great azaleas and what they do to give them their cold period is when they water they use ice cubes for a couple of months say dec., jan., and then just let nature take its course. Just watch out for fungus and the like as you are so humid.
