The tree looks fine and I can see how growing out the lower branches would improve the taper.
Larches are cool trees, but I live further south, closer to New York City, and the only larch I've found is in a public park. I read some articles about propagating cuttings from first year wood, so I took some small branches form that tree, used some root hormone and stuck them in fine moist sand. We'll see what happens.
