The thing is I didn't only ask that question to get an answer, it was to generate conversation, which is one thing that i think this forum should work towards, I have to apologize to you Owen, I think frustration got the better of me and I kinda let go a little bit. I know you are extremely busy, thank you for your patient reply.

sincerely
Herman

It's interesting you mention conversation generation.  If you look back at threads that Yenling would comment on a year or so ago, the questions he posed were open-ended and meant to get a a deeper issue.

Seems like the best way to generate conversation nowadays is to start some drama  :o.  This site often been quite tranquil.  If you want more conversations, I'd suggest Facebook; the place to check the pulse of bonsai daily.

This forum is a reservoir of information, and many of the frequent posters provide definitive answers or links to those resources.  Thus ending the conversation at times.  Some aggressively defend their friends which can generate the feeling of cliques on the forum here; driving some users away.  There are no cliques here unless almost everyone is in it.

You can make this whatever you want it to be.  Personally, I'd like some photos posted of the inspirational trees of South Africa.

So, the new challenge could be that those willing to post do not give up and increase their post count of their projects.  It appears that many people here are not beginners, so beginner matters to not pique interests.

Just my opinions as a member here.

o wei Owen... I really did not expect this from you

so in other words, my questions aren't good enough, you told me off by saying i have to post pictures of SA trees or get lost by joining another forum(facebook) and my posts do not generate interest because I'm a beginner?

wow okay

so how do i not give up if my stuff is viewed as beginner and does not pique interest and does not get commented on, why would I post pictures of South African trees if it would not attract posts?

thats one heluva opinion, I'm sorry for apologizing and for it not being accepted,

this is it for me then

I personally did not read Owen's message the way you did Herman.  I see it as some one adding their view on what was raised and giving suggestions.

But then that is me...

So I will continue to post on this forum and hope to get feedback and hopefully get more people involved.

Really sorry for hijacking your thread Owen.

Like I said earlier in the thread.  Love the tree.

That was not my intent at all.  I merely stated that this forum seems to cater to certain types of questions.  If you read earlier in the thread, I was supportive and optimistic.  There was no ultimatum.  A suggestion was made to prompt more responses.

Again, this forum is what you make of it.

Think what you like.  I've been nothing but supportive here.
