Grafted Miyajima White Pine
« on: October 28, 2013, 11:14 PM »
I've taken care of this White Pine for over ten years for a client. A year ago it was repotted again and was lifted on the left side. A few weeks ago I spent two days in Boon's study group rewiring. The first picture is from November 2004. The second before wiring started. The last two are after finishing wiring. It is grafted on Black Pine, imported from Japan by Isley Nursery. It doesn't get as much sun as I would like at the clients house.

The correct spelling of the importer is Iseli Nursery. I purchased it in 1998 during the Bonsai Symposium put on by Joe Harris, featuring his teacher Makoto Hashimoto from Japan, likely the source of the tree. It wasn't part of the workshop, but purchased while there. David Dewire was hanging out and greatly encouraged me to make the purchase. We worked the following day after the symposium setting the branches as seen in the 2004 picture.
Here is an additional picture from the top from last month.
