Title: Grafted Miyajima
Post by: John Kirby on August 24, 2014, 01:09 PM
Had this tree since 2007, suffered in Arkansas. Has come back quite strong, so now to pick new front (done , see picture) and time to clean and wire. See how far we get today.

Ok, 4 hours in and have the first 4 branches done. About half way as there is only a little more 6 wire and a couple of guys to bring bigger branches in place.

John, you're cheating!  You're cutting branches off so you won't have to wire them!

Ok, her you can see both theside branch and lower back to side branch. Both at a closer to correct front and inthenlpw up, thos will be visible more easily once the tree is tilted  back 5-10 degrees or so, and a few degrees left down tocorrect for the apex.

Time to get back to work.

So, how often do you "earn" a cigar?  Each branch?  Or each level?

Had a guest come by to purchase a few trees, got one and a half branches done in my hour and a half.

Jody , also solved the apex, just need to do it.

Adair, one when done for the day with an IPA. No mixy beer, cigar and wire.

John,

You do good work.

Is the apex a bit heavy on the right?

Well. Do you style for being in front of it or for the camera?

I don't rhink it is any more out of scale than the left side of the Scots pine at the top of the page.  ;)

True, John. I'm not in front of it.

It is amazing how different trees can look, pictures vs being there.
