I've attached a larger picture (with permission) to the original post.  This tree is very nice, and much larger than it looks.

Hi Dorothy,

If you look closely at the root part above the ground, it has lost more than 3/4 of its diameter and I raised the soil to cover the underside of that root so that the viewer might imagine that this root is solid and not a thin slice. Otherwise, if it is exposed, a reverse taper is obvious. The moss prevents the soil from erosion.
