Title: new trident stock
Post by: Hotaction on September 14, 2010, 12:04 PM
I was at the bonsai symposium in Rochester, and picked up a small trident.  Not much to look at now, but it should be a fun project.  Hopefully it will result in a nice little shohin tree.

John, I assume all is well, it spent the winter in the garage.  I plan on taking a look at the roots, and reducing some of the clutter in the top of the tree.  I'll have to evaluate it, after I get a look at the roots.

Ok, the buds are pushing, and the time to repot is just about here, despite the snow on the ground.  I snapped some pics before i got to it, so i might get some feedback from the members here first.  Please feel free to share thoughts, comments, or virtuals, and don't hold back.  The green thing is a Bic pen cap pushed into the soil for size reference.

The roots were tricky and it needs more work, but I've got alot of other stuff going on.  So, it can wait for a bit while it sits in the horrible cheap pot.

What was tricky about the roots?

They aren't really suited for that more upright angle is all.  Seems as though it is destined to be a slanting style trunk.
