This is our Satsuki Osakazuki in nearly full flower. The tree was purchased on November 6th 2010 from David Kreutz at Satsuki Bonsai-en. Andrew has been working with Dave as time permits. Satsuki are Drew's passion. I think if was up to him they would be the only trees on the benches. It is in a Sara Rayner pot. This satsuki was imported from Japan about 8 years ago. It stands at approximately 26" from the top of the pot. It is worked on both in the spring and the fall. Drew did exception work on this tree last fall. Notice how each flower is spaced to fully open on its own stage unencumbered by its nearest neighbor. The tree is a work in progress but get better each year. We are working on cleaning the trunk and smooth away the scars for older branches.

Kurume Azalea ('Bridesmaid')approx. 100 years old in full splendor!  Pot is 'Koyo'.   Hollow trunk (initially created by hurricane tearing upper trunk off in 1970's). From original cutting plant from Japan returned by horticulturalist Dr Lorenzo Kinney from the University of Rhode Island back around 1915.  I've been working this tree for about 14 years now.
