i dont normally put trees into competitions, i am just starting to feel confident enough to do so. i will put this one up as i feel it is the closest tree i have to being finished. it is a Clerodendrum inerme, also known as Escambron.

i received this tree on Jan. 10 2010, as a bare trunk, i potted it into the pot it is now and it has blown out to this in the past six months or so. i am very happy with the progress of this tree, the lower LH branch was an after thought in its design so it is not as advanced as the rest.

i can get more shots if need be but dont have a good camera at the moment, this is the best shot out of 30-40, being a camera phone it can be hard.

the progressional can be seen here---> http://bonsaistudygroup.com/tropical-bonsai-discussion/clerodendrum-triple-trunk/

thanks guys :)

I'll submit this work-in-progress buttonwood.  I've had it since August 2004 Mary Madison workshop and managed to keep it alive during our winters by giving it grow lights and it's own humidifier in a spare bedroom.  I'll likely be parting with it this fall and give someone else a chance to learn how to care for it during winter.  So, I figured it was now or never for the Tree of the Month contest.

Here is a Shohin Momiji that I exhibited in a group display at the 2nd US National Bonsai Exhibit last month.  Also a closeup of the Japanese decorated pot.  The tree stands approx 15cm from the top of the pot to the top of the tree.  I've been working with it for 6 10 years.  It was purchased in Japan in 2000.

This kaede maple was started from cut down yard tree.  http://bonsainut.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3149

The maple now measures 7 inches tall with a 3 inch trunk at the base. The tree has been layered twice to fit into the Tokoname pot.

This Ficus microcarpa, "Golden Gate" or  "Tiger Bark" was started about 15 years ago from a cutting. It has been in training as a bonsai for about 6 or 7 years. I would need to defoliate this tree completely to do any proper wiring. It is still recovering from the last defoliation, so I have used guy wires to position the branches where I see their future.  Some of it's recent progress can be seen here.

I have been working on this one for a long time at my shop.
I hope large bonsai trees are not excluded.
