Here's a Scots pine that I've had for a few years now.  Akio Kondo did the first styling, and Peter Tea did the most recent work.

About 55 cm high
Around 250 years old
Pot by Derek Aspinall
From a tree which was collected in 1995 in Colorado by Larry Lackel

This has developed very well. For a ponderosa pine it is incredibly dense.

Maybe one month we should have a single-species contest.  :)

Here's a Crape Myrtle just beginning to wake up. I got it from another Yama Ki Bonsai Society member in 1995. She acquired it from the Bonsai by the Monastery in the 70s or 80s.

One photo is from 2005, the other two are from yesterday.

I thought I would keep mine seasonal with my Prunus Incisa 'Koyo no Mae'. I've grown it from a cutting and it spent 8 years in open ground.
