8" tall Japanese Maple I have Been working on the past 31/2 years. Has been residing in the pale blue Yamafusa pot for the past couple of years. Transplanted in to a multicolored Bunzan pot last month. Shohin are supposed to be fun. May use this as my second tree for a show this summer, first tree is a slant.

Nice! What species is first tree? pic?

Slant Larch

Much better pot.
But now, do you really think these "sumo" trees look like trees?
-
Hmm do they look like trees? Yes. Stylized trees.
Pot isn't better, just different.
-
It surprises me that this pot doesn't clash as much as I think it should. The more I look at it, the more I like it.
-
Very nice.
I like both pots.
-
Id be interested in how the pot/tree combination works outside of autum! Please feel free to keep us informed ;)

Wow! That tree gets better every time I see it. Well done John!

What's this one look like in leaf w/ that new pot?

The colorful pot makes the colors on the branches pop. To develop the thin branches, did you thread graft?
