Tree repotted yesterday. It had real healthy roots. I also got a nice sara rayner pot for this to show in eventually. I needs to be wired again this fall, but I am pleased with this tree.

This tree was a result of a workshop my son did at Shohin St. Louis in the spring of 2009. Tigra Urushibata the son of Nobuichi Urushibata the owner of Taisho-en did the workshop. Some thought I was crazy to let my 16 year old son take the spot rather than attend it myself. But is was a great experience for him and I am proud of not only him but also the tree that resulted. He learned so much from Tigra. It was well worth the price. The time they spent together was in my mind was invaluable.

Good Morning, I think it was a wonderful thing you did, giving your spot to your son. Of all the factors necessary in Bonsai, the one that is impossible to overcome is age. By helping shimsuki to enter the world of Bonsai at his age will allow him years on years of time to cultivate his interest and define his talent.
You have done a good thing J

Just a photo update, I am not good at taking pictures of trees and it should have been turned a little but here it is.
