Also, you can do drastic pruning and get bud breaks to create movement on your schefflera.

In my area and hemisphere i take them outside in warm weather and pump them up with sunshine and fert. then chop them in July when the tree is in maximum growth. cut them down to a half inch above the main trunk. It will break buds and you'll be able to create good movement. I cut mine once per year.

(Also, buy a couple of young plants and chop them every year. Normally the schefflera are available and inexpensive.)

No problems outside, I place mine in morning sun and light afternoon shade. May get aphids early in the season but aphids are easily eradicated. Don't overwater and place them under cover if there's rain for an extended period of time. Well draining soil.

Fun and easy species, does well inside too.
