Title: Two Sick Shimpaku
Post by: scottroxburgh on January 13, 2011, 04:58 AM
First off, Im in Australia so its mid summer.

I got these two trees from the field at the beginning of Spring and potted them up into an Akadama and gravel mix. They have been doing fine all spring and now mid summer they appear to be browning off and losing vigor?

I initial thought red spider mite but I have checked and couldn't find any, maybe they are two wet?

If anyone has any ideas let me know asap

Thanks

Scott.

Could it be mid-summer stress-induced dormancy?  A lot of my trees will slow down drastically when the temps are the highest during summer.  Are you noticing this slow down on any of your other trees?

(6" of snow here in some places.)

Sorry I forgot the photos, I get them up for you to have a look.

There has been a bit of a slow down, but maybe it is also the old growth dying and falling off?
