shimsuki:
Do anybody else's shimpaku loose their vibrant green and go to a pale green or even golden brown this time of year?

John Kirby:
Ah yes, it is natural.

bwaynef:
They sometimes take on an almost purple color too.  Its normal.

the color will get drab during Winter/dormancy, and it can vary between a sickly green to shades of reddish brown/purple.  once they start growing again and have food and light they rapidly return to the healthy green color you are used to.  nothing to worry about.  its natural.

Thanks for asking this, this is my first year with a shimpaku and I was wondering the same thing.
