Welcome to the Bonsai Study Group.  Please take a moment to read the Welcome thread (http://bonsaistudygroup.com/general-discussion/welcome-to-the-bonsai-study-group-18/).

If you have images to share with your post we ask that you upload them here. Ideally we want users to upload their photos here for discussion, as often external links and embedded photos become broken as images and other files are removed or URLs change.  Additionally, images posted here are hidden from guests, encouraging visitors to register for the site and contribute to the community.  You can still embed uploaded images within your post using Bulletin Board Code and the uploaded image URL.  If you need a reference please visit the help section of this site. If you need further assistance please feel free to post your question to the forum feedback section.

You are allowed to edit a post for up to 45 minutes.  If that time passes and you wouldn't mind uploading your photos in a separate post a forum moderator will be happy to edit and place the images for you.

Excellent material...this is the kind of tree that is enjoyable on the bench even as it sits...loaded with possibilities.

Expect to get juvenile growth since you cut it back pretty hard.

Congratulations on your tree!

Question and comments for admin
- you said that it is "ideal" but not required to upload the picture directly on this site. So which is it?
- I'd rather maintain control of my images. I know that a change in the URL link will cause the image to disappear but if my images ever disappear it will be because I chose not to share my images anymore.
- You've removed picture from my recent post so I will remove the initial pictures
- I just won't post pictures anymore

This thread is an excellent example of what happens when someone chooses to remove the photos or the link becomes broken.  Other than clarification of our position on hot-linked vs. hosted images, this thread doesn't offer posterity very much in the way of bonsai.

Just as you'd like to maintain control of your images, we'd like to maintain value for our members by ensuring that BSG can be used in the future.  Changes are on the way as soon as our schedules allow that may make things a bit easier for uploading pictures directly to the site, but hosting the pictures is something we will continue to enforce for the foreseeable future.  I'm saddened by your decision to not post pictures anymore, though hopeful that you'll stick around and participate in other ways.

please make it clear in your guidelines (maybe the wording needs to be revised) that uploading pictures to the website is MANDATORY and that pictures will otherwise be removed. This would help clear up some of the confusion.
