Fall work on satsuki
« on: November 06, 2010, 08:15 PM »
Good Evening All,

Shimsuki came home from college this weekend and he and I spent the day with Dave Kreutz doing fall work on our satsuki trees. Had a great time and I bought Shim a tree for his birthday (today). We'll post pics tomorrow. Dave is having a two day workshop next weekend that I'll be attending and getting the rest of my satsukis wired and cleaned up for winter storage. I love this time of year. so much to be done.

Good Morning All,

Here is a pic of the Satsuki Osakazuki that Shim and I decided on yesterday while at Dave Kreutz's Satsuki Bonsai-en. It is Shim's birthday present to commemorate his last year as a teenager. I thinned it out and and did the fall work on it with Dave's help. Its delicate ends will be wired out next weekend with fine copper and the pad development will begin.

Shim is back this morning working with Dave on some other trees and I'll try to post more pictures of before and afters this afternoon before Shim goes back up to university.

Wow, nice birthday present!  Are you adopting by chance? :D

Happy birthday Shim!

Mcp,

Sorry, not adopting at this time. Two is all I choose to afford.

Don,

Though most of our tree's are indeed shohin we have a number that are not. Shim and I now have a total of eight "giants" that tower over the others on the benches.

I like big trees, (and shohin too!), my dad is the true shohin lover though.
