Boon Training Video Series-"Decandling: Japanese Black Pine" - Boon Manakitivipart

There's been a great deal of confusion over the last few years about how to achieve proportionally balanced needle length on a healthy Japanese black pine. The confusion is over. In this DVD, Boon details the proper use of decandling as a tool for both developing young JBP and maintaining the health and beauty of mature JBP. While the two techniques are similar, there are major differences designed to provide the maximum benefit.

The advantage of this DVD is the strong instruction Boon gives while decandling first a tree in training, and then his logo tree. The young tree in question has been grown for bonsai and the trunk is finished. Boon goes into detail about his plans for the tree and how he intends to reach them. He actually plans to show this tree in five years!

Along with precise information about spring candles v. summer candles, and how to time the cutting of candles, Boon shows how to cut all the candles on your tree in one day, instead of the process of cutting three times over one month which is commonly taught today.

Boon's method of cutting candles works well on healthy trees, and simplifies the matter to the pont that anyone with this video and a tree in training can make excellent advances with it.

In the second portion of the video, Boon uses his logo tree (the one he used a drawing of on his business cards) to demonstrate the proper technique with a mature tree. Explaining the use of decandling coupled with thinning and needle pulling, he gives a masterful overview of the process.

I strongly recommend anyone interested in learning more about how to train your Japanese black pine purchase this DVD and study it often.
