Title: Pinus ponderosa
Post by: JRob on September 19, 2009, 11:32 AM
Good Afternoon All,

My concentration is basically shohin but that's not all that I am working on. Thought you might enjoy seeing a ponderosa that I purchased from Andy Smith last spring. It was collected in 2007 in SD. It will be wired this winter and potted in the spring.

That could develop into a classic. Great lines to play with!

Jrob, now  (aka Fall) is probably the best time to start wiring Ponderosas. Just a thought if you were holding off working them for cultural purposes.

It is just after lunch here in Tokyo.

Here are some current pics (sorry about the quality buy you'll get the idea. Repotted this paast spring in a shallow antique japanese drum with nail head detail. Reduced root ball and removed 1/2 of the collected dirt. Great back budding occurred. Tree is doing great. Will attempt to center more on next repot. Did not want to remove to much this time.

Really interesting shape and deadwood hiding in that tree.  Are you going to show that one to Michael?  What's next for this tree?

I thought it was a great tree with 2 trunks but frankly I think you made a huge mistake killing the 2nd one! ???
