I went back and looked at my notes...apparently Jim (Doyle) told me the tree was from Colorado, so I'm not sure why I thought it was Oregon! It's an Englemann Spruce, don't even know if they are found in Oregon. Anyway, Jim has so many collected trees from out west, some are probably from Randy Knight but you'd have to check with him to be certain.

Edited to add - Bob, thanks for those links. I'll take a look at them when I get the time. You're probably right about it not being important enough to ship across country, especially since the pumice and lava rock are so similar. In fact, if the true definition of pumice is based on its density relative to water being < 1, then most of the "pumice" I have isn't really pumice at all...
