Just got a nice Shantung Maple today and worked on it when I got home. It has a nice trunk line and the foliage looks very healthy. I will post pics as soon as I can get them uploaded onto the computer. Has anyone here evr worked with this species? Thanks, Joe

Joe
I just saw this post. I have never had one but I have seen some pictures of very nice Shantung Maple Bonsai. It's been a couple of years since you posted this and I was wondering how your tree turned out? It looks like it may have been potted much deeper at some point. How did you treat the upper roots that are out of the soil ? You got any pictures? I would like to see how it looks now.

I would air layer it above those ugly roots. You can't fix those roots that are there
