old japanese maple

we thin it today.  and do soji (clean up the top soil).  cut the roots that stick upward and small roots that cross.  keep the root that pointed in the direct correction.  this work will continue to improve the nebari. 

it is maintenance that should be done on all bonsai.

finished pruning and soji.  then take it out and water

it us usually done between fall and spring.

Very nice, Boon.  Scars have almost healed completely.  What's next for this old one?
