Three Year Progression of a Shohin JBP II
« on: August 09, 2010, 02:51 PM »
Purchased around the same time as the other one, this one too caught my eye as to how healthy it looked at the time. How could I let something like this go? ;D  And check out the taper on that trunk especially at the base. ;)

This pic is right after decandleing that same year. Some much needed wiring also and it came out just like I wanted it to.
This pic also shows the great taper all the way down the trunk from top to bottom. ;)

As with all the others this year, the growth with the new candles was fantastic. :D

And now with the new buds coming in after decandeling. This is one of those trees that you have to see in person to appreciate it, the pics are just too flat not being able to see the branch structure in 2D as shown. :(

Thomas, I love this tree. I can't wait to see it after needle pulling this fall. Great work!

Another great looking JBP, and great progression.  I've got one about this size and it's a constant battle to keep the moss off the nebari/trunk.  Have you found the same true for you?

And, what gives?  I thought I remembered you were an elm guy?  :)

Hi Chris,
Too bad we don't live closer, you'd love it even more in person. I think out of all my JBPs, this one is the least photogenic because of what I stated above.

John,
I do get some moss creep up but not very much since these have to be in full sun and our summers here are just a bit cooler than  Death Valley, sometimes about the same if you ask me. :'(

I also use the chelated iron about every 4 to 6 weeks and moss doesn't care for that stuff too much.
