Black Pine Re-vamp
« on: May 14, 2014, 01:25 PM »
Hello all, I suppose part of the Lurker Challenge could be to have more people submit to Tree of the Month.  This is a black pine I worked on last week for Fred at Hollow Creek.  It has not been repotted in a while and the lowest right branch died a while back.

As you will see in the photos below, the tree was drastically tilted to address the weak feeling the root spread gave.  Branches were aggressively removed throughout the canopy.

The tree was styled to make it look better aesthetically, but at the same time position branches for a more sustainable design.

This Fall, the dead section of trunk will be addressed as I only had a work day to knock this out.

I like it.  The trunk line is pretty nice and now that the canopy is opened up you can see it.
