$8 Walmart JBP
« on: July 14, 2009, 11:24 AM »
I will wire this JBP this fall.  It was an $ 8.00 purchase at a WalMArt
nursery a couple of years ago.

Bill,
Thanks so much for posting this! You've gotten quite a lot for your $8! If you need any help this fall, let me know.

Bill,
Nice tree wether $8 or whatever. Now you need to get some wire on it. I am sure that Chris will help you get this so very right.

Nice and thanks.

This is almost enough to make me want to brave that place.

This has some real potential. Nicely done.

I apparently misunderstood the context of Chris's offer. I hope I haven't offended anyone. Oh, and for those who might be interested, I got my first Bonsai in 1968, a J Procumbens, and my first Black Pine in 1970. The Black Pine was an old japanese tree that was traded for one of our Registered Standard Poodle Puppies. When we left California, my folks decided to return the tree to the family (in San Jose) so that it wouldn't pass on with out the appropriate care. It was a nice tree.

My offer to Bill was for any of his fall work, and I am sure no one involved was offended. Bill had some health challenges this year and is doing quite well, but we can always use some help.

My local Walmarts carried bargain priced Austrian Black Pines a couple years ago.  Two of them had nice burried trunk and root design discovered after digging a bit.  Bought them, and then one at Lowes, all much like that in your picture.  Haven"t seen any there since.  They were something like $22 for a week or two, then half that.  From a nursery in Michigan per the Label.  Other collectible trees are similarly there one year and not the next.
