Title: Late re-potting of JBP.
Post by: Hotaction on May 27, 2010, 09:53 PM
Seems as though I am going to be helping a fellow club member repot a large established JBP tommorow.  THIS IS NOT MY IDEA.  He has been doing this much longer than I have, and despite my efforts to talk him out of it, the deed will be done.  In his opinion, the tree is in greater danger staying in the pot.  I'd like to hear what you all have to say.

Why the need so late in the season, and why wasn't it done earlier if it was in need?

John, he travels  in the winter, and doesn't return till april.  This is a BIG tree, and it requires more than just one person to even move it.  I don't think he has had a set of helping hands available at the proper time in some years.

I don't have any advice on getting him to postpone it.  I don't really have any words of wisdom on how careful to be when you're helping him.  I just want to ask that you report on its progress throughout the year and well into the next.

So, I hear that this tree is alive and well.  I was just e-mailed pics from the day we repotted, so I am posting them now.

Good to hear.  Maybe it's time to put some wire on those branches?
