Very nice Matsu

do you plan on thickening the trunk with that sacrifice branch on top ? I like how many options you have with that top left branch having so many branches on it

The roots on the most recent picture look much more defined, have you gone into the centre and removed the finer, more fibrous roots?

Hi Herman,  the sacrifice is thickening the trunk (and roots) some, and healing some (relatively minor) scars on the back of the trunk.  I think it'll remain a fairly small tree, so I'm not sure the current sacrifice will remain much longer.  I'll probably evaluate next February/March or so.

rxa, I've teased the soil and removed some of the inner soil from time to time.  I've also removed some of the old (mostly dead) hairs that didn't or wouldn't ever amount to anything.

2014 repotted into a smaller pot.  I've got a somewhat smaller squarish rectangle pot picked out for the next repotting, then maybe a duck pot after that.

It's probably another 2-3 years from where I would like it to be, let's call it 4.

Continue ramifications. Grow the right side out a little more and keep the rest compact.

Please put this in Tree of the month!

Against Adair's.

I think it will be fun.

I love them both!

I'm game if he is. Though, I don't think mine is near the caliber of his, yet. ;)

Sure, Matsu, I'll enter mine when the contest opens next month.

I can take no credit for creating my tree, it's recently purchased. But I can maintain/improve it over time.
