Japanese black pine 2
« on: May 08, 2010, 09:22 AM »
hey guys

i recently aquired a rather nice JBP, it has been with the previous owner for fifteen years, im not sure how old it was when he got it, but he has done very well with structure and design, i have basically just wired and placed. cant say much more about it, i like it and i like where it is heading! the apex wont be so pointy, the branch going up i am using as a bit of a sacrifice to help regain a bit of strength, no branches were cut off in the process as i wanted everything that was there to get it super healthy and growing strong, in a year, maybe two i will begin needle reduction. the needles at the moment are about an inch and a half long. i will be going for a more rounded shape, less pointy i think!
the other thing i forgot, its a custom made pot too!

sizes are, trunk 35mm above the nebari, the nebari streches a bit over 100mm, height is about 300mm.

when i get a decent camera again i will get left right and top shots.

it is a little off at the moment it was up the back yard for i dont know how long, i dont think it was fed in a fair while, so now the plan is to feed it, get it healthy and strong and develop the ramification, once it is strong again of course :D

Why's the soil mounded so high?  It looks a little heavy too (the soil).  At least you got rid of a lot of the weeds.

I'm interested to see where you go with this one once the tree is healthy.

I like this little Pine.  I also think that it is sitting a little high, but I would love to have this tree in my yard.

gday wayne, this tree has been sitting out the back yard of a mates place for a few years without a repot, that is why it is sittting so high it has actually started pushing itself out of the pot. the bloke i got it off had a battle with cancer that restricted him from getting to stuff, when it is strong and healthy it will get a repot and be lower in the pot ;)

thanks outlaw ;) as said it hasnt been repotted for years. as soon as i seen it i had to have it i knew it was going to be a decent tree.

i will update with better pics and after it has been repotted when it regains its strength back :)
