Title: Winter Storm Preparation
Post by: BonsaiEngineer1493 on January 22, 2014, 06:54 PM
The north east got hit with a winter storm yesterday. I placed my trees into a garage that is kept at 45 degrees. I did this when the temperature outside was in the upper 30s and the trees were on the terrace with daily sunlight. I placed them in the garage because of strong winds, heavy snow, and the temperatures in the teens. I did have buds on my maples swelling up before I placed them in the garage. I checked on the trees today and noticed that the buds on the maples  are not swollen as they use to be.. Is this something to worry about? My best guess is that the trees are experiencing confusion.

Those "swelled" buds shouldn't be swelling yet. I fear the worst.
I think pictures would help.

They should be fine, the garage is a good place during our nasty weather. Maples are pretty tough, have faith.
