Where is everyone. The group has been silent lately? This time of year we should be seeing tons of post and activity. JRob

You would think so!

Personally, I've been very busy with bonsai related matters.  Taught a couple workshops at Plant City Bonsai, went to a Boon Intensive early in June, and now it's time to decandle.  Cut back on my seigen Japanese Maple last night.

As a matter of fact, I have decandled two trees this morning.  Hard to type with pine sap on my fingers!

For whatever reason, the summer months have historically been pretty slow around this board.  I can come up with a few reasons that've kept me from posting more lately ...and I'm sure others have as many reasons.  Hopefully over the weekend I'll have some time to do some bonsai work.  I might even have time for pictures.

How's that book review going JRob?

Lurking. Who knew work and family too up so much time. :)

Just switched jobs, again, so hope to have some more time and energy to devote to trees and documenting the process. Looking forward to Nashville Regional Show, too!

playing junior arborist in my spare time, who knew planting over 500 trees would be so much work 20 years later... :D

Just returned from 10 days hiking in Great Basin National Park, Nevada.
Saw awesome bristlecone pines and did some climbing.

It doesn't need to be named...everyone who knows bonsai forums knows which one I'm referring to!

I've wanted to chime in but so far have been able to stay above the fray.  One common problem runs through all the posts there.  And that is not the only forum that a problem has arisen with that common problem.  Blind to the facts is all I can say.

Guys, we're not unaware that other forums exist.  I've linked to several when Joshua Hanzman asked (giving what I believe to be a pretty fair assessment of each), lamenting the fact that this one's often slow.  The one being mentioned is http://bonsainut.com (<-- that's even clickable ...or should be).  We're also not unaware that some of the members here are active there.  I've posted a few times there this month.

BUT

Please please please leave whatever's happening over there ...over there.  I don't want to kill this thread, but I do hope to kill that part of the conversation in this thread.

Fibonaccifemme, did you get any pics of those majestic old trees?

When I first became involed with bonsai in the Fall of 2008 I joined several forums this being one. I quicky left the others because of the nonsense that they allowed. For a long time now I have only participate in this one because as the title says it's been a bonsai study group, simply bonsai. I have neither the time nor patience for what was going on some of the other forums. I hope this one remains true to its goals and is policed accordingly. It would be a shame for it to digress from its state objective.

Maybe it's because when a member posts a picture or starts a new thread no one here replies? I just updated 2 of mine and I don't know why because neither had replies.
I'm not boo hooing  but come on people. Owen says on his Lurker Challenge thread he would like to see more threads and get this forum active. Maybe the pictures of collected material aren't liked or appreciated here?
On the Bonsai Nut forum at least people show interest in everything bonsai. You may not like the replies you get but at least someone replies.
