Well i went out to one of my mulberrys and looked and saw lil chips of wood. So i scrapped around the dead parts and saw the lil mazes left by termites. I havent seen any but they are there somewhere. How do i get rid of these guys and can the eat the live parts of my trees?

You sure they're termites. Borers can also do similar damage...

I've gotten rid of termites by soaking termite poison (check at the hardware store) into cotton balls. Stuffing the cotton into the galleries on the tree, wrapping the tree trunk in plastic Saran wrap and then putting the whole thing out in the sun for the afternoon. The heat forces the air into the holes and fumigates the trunk. This treatment drove a hive of termites out of a 100 year old collected boxwood for me...Be extremely careful with the poison and place the tree AWAY FROM YOUR HOUSE.

Google "tree borer", lots of pictures, treat quickly, if borers can be fatal if allowed to progress.

Take some to your local Cooperative Extension office for ID. They may be able to tell you right there, or may have Master Gardeners on call for that sort of question.

I've never known termites to munch on living wood, either in the USA or Ecuador; but I'm not going to swear they won't. And borers, well, what John said.

Well did some digging. Found a borer. Now I only found one. Should I still treat for them or not?

I live in New Orleans and we have a huge termite problem.
They burrow into living trees and hollow out the center of the tree.
Eventually the tree dies and collapses leaving a huge hollow trunk.

One of my first teachers Roy Nagatoshi uses regular aerosol RAID for ants without any ill affect to the tree. I used it in pretty copious amounts on a cork oak. I did not put any on or around the soil/roots though
