Title: The Big Tree - Lamar Texas
Post by: Larry Gockley on July 04, 2010, 07:25 PM
On a recent vacation, we saw a sign that read "the Big Tree", so we had to go see. It was a live oak, said to be over 1000 years old. The trunk circumference is 35 feet, is 44 feet tall and 89 feet wide. It is protected by a chain link fence, so I could not stand beside it for size reference.  Other pictures are of other trees in the same grove. Larry
