Started as a joke, but it's getting big!
« on: August 10, 2017, 07:21 AM »
Hey guys. I know nothing about the art of the bonsai but would like to learn to see if I can one day give this beautiful tree to my wife as a gift.  Someone at work had bought a bonsai tree and I joked that I could grow one from seeds. So I bought 10 Albizia Julibtissin silk pink seeds from Amazon about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago and it has actually grown quite well even though it is on my office. I am not sure if I waited to long to start the process to prime and structure the tree.  Below is a pic.  I have purchased a book and a few tools but wanted some insight from some experts!  Is it too late?

Thanks in advance

I know nothing about Albizia, but that tree looks like its in need of light.  If you can find a place with bright shade it'd benefit.  (If its been inside for 2 years then taking it into the sun straight-away will likely cause its leaves to burn and further weaken it.)

Thanks for the response. Can I ask why you say it is in need of light?  Or how you can tell.  The leaves always look beautiful and the lighter color is a new branch that just came in. Unfortunately I just moved to a different office with no window.

Thanks!

It seems thin and has few branches.
