OK.  OK.... I cry uncle. This morning it is negative 16.5. I give up... Spring is never coming.
Today is March 4 not January or February....
Anyone else still in the deep freeze?

yep, 12 below zero yesterday morning.  The other day i told my wife it seemed really nice out, and had to be in the 20's.  Now that's perspective.  Turns out, it was 15.  The 10-day forecast is mid 20's during day and teens at night.  Steady-Eddie winter is not a bad thing, it just gets a bit old....

The really nice part for us northerners is that we get an extended repotting season.  There have been years where repotting season came early and was short because it was instant spring.  that is not the case this year.  Hopefully, when it begins to warm, it stays warm, rather than multiple returning hard freezes.  As long as your trees are protected, this is a great repotting season.  :)

So Don, as long as my roots don't freeze in my cold greenhouse, I should start the repotting even if the buds aren't swelling yet?

Here in Calgary it's supposed to be -18C this Thursday and +11C on Saturday. And don't worry, it will be back to snowing by next Tuesday.... sigh...

you can repot them as long as your protect them afterwards.  i would say "could" rather than "should".

Between Chicago & Milwaukee, I still have 2 feet of snow covering my trees outside. To get to the trees I have to slog through nearly 3 ft deep drifts of old snow. Its Sunday March 9, it doesn't feel natural to have this much snow still on the ground. Good news, nothing is popping out of dormancy yet, so no rush to do anything. I can relax a little this weekend.

Still. Another bout 4-6 inches. Rain then ice then snow.

Kind of used to it now.

almost 50 yesterday.  high of 30 today and low of 0 tonight.  we received freezing rain then a good 4"-5" of mashed potatoes last night, and are expecting another 4"-5" of snow yet today to top it off. trees and branches down all over.  sure beats drought, flood, hurricane, tornado, fire, etc that other areas are plagued by....
