Hi Barry,

The typical approach would be to get the tree into a free draining substrate over the course of a few repottings, (search for boons mix on this site).
This combined w/ feed, lots of sun and selective pruning to allow light into the interior of the tree
will create the vigor that stimulates back budding.

edit: also fill out your zone/location on your profile. will help to get good advice.

Prune back to strong candles. The long junk doesn't help. Wire and grow what you want .

won't need extra light during winter, you want to let it to go dormant.
