Title: Not bonsai - miniature trees...
Post by: Jerry Norbury on July 13, 2009, 05:30 PM
There is a sort of "Mini-Holland" in The Hague - called Madurodam.

There's a vast number of miniature scenes with notable Dutch buildings and a whole load of miniature trees. Almost bonsai but not in pots...

They have a whole army of gardeners and fifty modellers just for the buildings.

It's been around for over fifty years - and was setup as a war memorial for George Maduro - he died in a concentration camp in the second world war. It's now a very popular tourist destination.

I have a picture of me there when I was 11 months old.  I have always wanted to visit some day as an adult.

Jeah Barbara, thats the building where part of the roof is missing..... ;)
In those days you could obviously get very near the buildings, thats not possible anymore.

There´s also another, less famous, place in Holland, called "klein Walcheren" or "little Walcheren". It´s sort of a family playpark including rollercoaster and so on. Appearantly the province of Zeeland (part of the Netherlands) build in a scale of 1:20, there are about 350 miniature buildings/bridges/boats/cars/trains and so on.

Its made with the help of Madurodam,

Is these miniature trees are Artificial Trees? I have a bonsai tree, and I just bought it last two months. I really do not care if it is a miniature or a bonsai tree, but I like tree's that are small.Artificial Trees
