Title: New cuttings
Post by: TimC on February 21, 2013, 11:48 PM
Just got my shipment from Bill V.  stuff looks great!  Now I just need a little help in the right direction to pot them.....was thinking 6" pots, with a mix of potting mix, sand, perlite, then tend to them and let them grow for a year.  Then wire for shape and let them grow again!

Any ideas would be appreciated.  Got cherry, plum, quince red pine, and Japanese beech.

Your soil mix for developing the trees sounds good, just make certain its coarser than finer.

I think the 6" pot for the cherry is good, but too big for the others, especially the pines. It is not a good idea to use a pot which is too large in proportion to the plant.

Good luck!
