Narrowing down
« on: September 06, 2009, 10:28 PM »
Now that I have been doing this for a while, and am refining my collection. I first started wanting one of everything, like most people in bonsai. Now, i don't like very many things, and have gotten rid of about half of what I started with. I have narrowed down my collection to three species. Shimpaku, Japanese White Pine, and Satsuki.

This is a very healthy sign. Priorities...priorities. Heaven knows there is not enough time to do it all. So many people get caught up in the one of each game. I can see narrowing down your species list but I would still grow a fair representation of each say 5-6 unless you are to the point you only want show quality material to maintain and focus on. Then the development department would all get pink slips too.

Its not that I only want show quality material, but its that I want everything that I have to become show quality material. Plus, I have found that I am better at growing shimpaku, white pine, and satsuki over any other material.
