I had a great week at the St. Louis Study GRoup with Michael Hagedorn. In Kato's book "Forest, Rock Planting & Ezo Sproce Bonsai" there is a picture on page 19 of his mixed forest style. When the photo was taken the planting was about 30 years old and 41" high. I have been fascinated with the concept since I first saw it. So today with Mike's help in a Demig pot I have been holding for my planting we executed a forest of the following species; Fagus crenate (Japanese Beech), Corylopsis spicata (Spike Winter Hazel), Chojubai (white form), Acer buergeranum (Trident Maple), Acer palmatum (Japanese Maple and Zelkova serrate (Japanese Elm).
