Shameless Promotion....
« on: October 13, 2012, 10:21 AM »
Hi all, just so this benefits the forum a bit:

Weak / sick Chochubai or other Chaenomeles benefit from being planted on a rock or other heat absorbing surface.

The genus Parthenocissus (aka Virginia Creeper, Boston Ivy, etc) will keep more fine branching long term if defoliated in early to mid-summer.  Leaf size also reduces.

Picea glenhii / Picea jezoensis (Ezo Spruce) do not like to have their surface roots disturbed during re-potting if possible.

Flushes of growth on Jasminum nudiflorum bonsai (especially shohin) are best cut back to one set of buds all over until late summer.

Now for the shameless promotion;  I will be back in America for a good deal of 2013 after a few years of study at Kouka-en.  Not finished with my apprenticeship, but will be highly mobile for a bit teaching all over setting up study groups, doing workshops, and private styling work.  If anyone is interested, please message me on here, my email (, or use the contact form on my blog:

I'm also not obscenely expensive to hire  ;D.  I  have enjoyed contributing when possible here and will continue to do so  :).

Work, work, work. I heard a rumor that Peter Tea may be back in Mid-13 as well. Opportunities, opportunities, opportunities.
