Title: LIVE, FROM TOPEKA, KANSAS....IT'S BONSAI RETREAT!!!!!
Post by: bonsaikc on March 28, 2010, 08:52 AM
We've been having a grand time so far with Boon! Frank and I picked him up at the airport on Friday evening and we made the hour drive from KCI to Forest Park. Here are a couple of photos of Boon choosing trees to work on for the demo that evening: The first one is Boon and Frank from Topeka, formerly Oklahoma.

Things started just a bit slowly as Boon began his demo and folks filtered in. In short order, though, he had matsubonsai and me lined out to work on thinning the pine (me) and thinning the tall procumbens nana (John) while Boon gave a great primer on working with junipers without pinching. He also showed us photos from Japan, some great trees he's photographed on his travels there.

Thanks for sharing these pictures.  Looks like you guys had a lot of fun, and probably learned a lot too.  Wish I lived closer :(

It was a lot of fun.  Thanks to Frank and his wife for being such great hosts.  Thanks to Chris for being a great marketer.  And as always, thanks to Boon for being a great teacher.

Looking forward to next year!
