Growing bed
« on: July 19, 2014, 08:34 AM »
My son, Shimsuki on this forum decided we needed to put some of our trees in the ground. This is one of his growing beds. It has 2 shimpaku, 3 jbp, 2 jwp,  & 2 ginkgo dwarf manhattan. In all 13 trees came off the benches with instructions not to dig them up until after I retire in 7 years. We'll see - JRob

I've always been curious about setting up a growing bed. Do you use general purpose soil or is it closer to a non-organic blend?

Looks good!

Me too, do you have to worry about the roots from adjacent plants growing into each other at all?

It's just plain old Missouri dirt that has been mulched over. We have a black pine that we've been growing for 6 years in our front yard that grows great in it!
