There are a couple of blogs that come to mind that have discussed ume at some length. One of them is Peter Teas blog the other is bonsai tonight blog. Is there anything in particular that you are looking to learn?

Try this blog as well as Brian owns an ume and has done several write ups on them. http://nebaribonsai.wordpress.com/.   I personally love prunus species as they offer so much. Gnarly bark with great deadwood possibilities, flowers, prolific growers and very hardy(depending on where you live)

TimC,

Places to buy on line are Evergreengardenworks.com and Internationalbonsai.com (see new plant catalog), Brent Walston and Bill Valavanis.

Good luck.

Try Muranaka bonsai as he has some pretty decent trees for about $100. They seldom flower but learning to graft ume is simple and an essential part for the future of tree
