A Great Weekend in Bonsai
« on: April 30, 2012, 09:35 PM »
This past weekend I was in Dallas for the Lone Star Bonsai Federation annual convention. The theme was " The Roots of Bonsai, Celebrating American Masters Trained in Japan".The artists were Ryan Neil, Kathy Shaner, and Michael Hagedorn. I was lucky enough to land a spot in a juniper workshop with Ryan Neil, and was an observer in a JBP and separate BYOT conifer workshop. I learned tons, took lots of notes, and may even finally have a handle on wiring. ::)  Also took pics of exhibit trees, but will not be able to post them 'til next weekend. Sorry. Saturday night, Ryan did a demo on a 60 year old procumbens. It was absolutely massive. Met some old friends and made some new ones. What more could you ask for. Larry
