hi everyone

Hi everyone!

I’m new on this forum, but I’m so excited I wanted to tell you about a wonderful new bonsai I just got.

I really, really wanted a Japanese Apricot, but had bad luck with orders that arrived in bad shape. Then my cousin told me to try <edited 'cause it smells spammy>. They have such beautiful specimens! I fell in love with their Japanese Apricot the minute I saw it.

It just came today in *perfect* condition. Not a leaf lost! It is sooo beautiful! You should see the blossoms. I’m so excited!

Happy Bonsai -- they made me happy!

<edit> We're being cautious here and hope we're wrong, but a first post doling out recommendations for businesses with whom most aren't familiar sends up flares.  Stick around and you'll learn why we're so guarded. BSG Admin</edit>

Hmmmm...This does sound a bit "iffy" to me too. Some conflicting info in there...

I agree, I wrote the Mod's asking about this post last night. If the individual is for real, and I hope he/she is, they should continue here posting pixs and asking questions.... even making comments. BUT>>>>> they should avoid trying to promote sites.

just my two cents
Jay

This person already posted on another bonsai forum about this tree and was questioned about the legal ramifications of importing banned varieties.
Fishy.

This sounds like the "Sexy Bonsai" seller who has been caught selling trees on eBay that he imports into the US illegally.

There is a lesson here one way or the other.....

If our new member is for real, he should realize that this is not the way to start off as a new member of a forum.

If he is less than appears..... we should all be remembering the old Fanny Arbuckle saying "You get what you pay for". Go looking for a cheap price or from a unknown seller and you never know what you'll get till it arrives...if it arrives.

my two cents
Jay

this appears to me to be a pretty bogus post. It is almost verbatim one posted at IBC:
http://ibonsaiclub.forumotion.com/bonsai-f1/hi-i-m-new-here-t2216.htm
and elsewhere.

This is a either a scam to get you to click the link so someone can send you more spam or worse-- or an attempt to skirt importation law. The posted says the importer had "repotted" the tree and it was "certified." That ain't what happens when a tree is legally imported. I don't know importation law in detail, but I believe Ume is one of those species that may be completely banned from importation--a few fruiting species are.

The poster also suggests she is ignorant of importation rules. Ignorance of the law is not a defense in court...

I would be extremely skeptical of anything this person posts...

Chris Cochrane at IBC posted an informative response to this:
http://ibonsaiclub.forumotion.com/bonsai-f1/hi-i-m-new-here-t2216.htm#21656

The nursery site referenced is obviously NOT in the US. It is in Shanghai...

The poster appears to be clueless, or is being disingenuous about knowing what's going on.

I would assume the latter not the former.

A few months ago, someone posted on BonsaiNut how ecstatic they were about a purchase from Happy Bonsai.  I looked them up, and they are based in China.  The posting was very similar to the eBay seller with the "Sexy Bonsai", which is what made me suspicious.

Now a new poster shows up that uses very similar language and mannerisms about a purchase from the same place.  If I'm wrong, I apologize, but this all seems very suspicious.
