You really don't Bonsai a tree into form, You BANZAI! it. This also implies whiskey and a sword.

John
I thought that's what you said when you are crashing into a ship with your plane.

Well we don't do those kinds of thing anymore, now do we? Regardless, we should all avoid Banzai and the implied effects on Bonsai.

Baha, this is a great thread...

Paul, I think your strongest argument is that one cannot say I'm going to bonsai a bonsai, if I may I think that is because imho the verb usage of bonsai is usually used when converting a tree (from topiary, wild, shrubbery, hedge, etc) into bonsai. Therefore i notice it is used when saying i.e.- I will bonsai this tree from home depot, not I will bonsai this ancient shimpaku bonsai :)

FYI and for clarity :)

You should have used the disclaimer, "decent people," don't do those kinds of things anymore.
Remember muslims still do this type of thing!

Several comments:

I'm with OhSoYoung. We speak English and making Bonsai into a verb is a logical extension.

Plurals don't exist in Japanese, so there is one bonsai and dozens of bonsai.

About BANZAI . . . sure we do it today -- with drones.

And while we're on the subject of grammar (and punctuation - your and you're), what unmitigated idiot started using the apostrophe on plurals - it is NOT plural's, EVER.  I never, ever saw that before the Internet became to world's (possessive, NOT plural) chief communication medium and the lowest common denominator hit bottom.

I'd prefer Sake and a katana, but I'm a snob. And while we're at, "bonsai trees" irks me.
