LOTS of things could be wrong.  Poor soil, overwatering, fungal... Try not misting it, if it's fungal, you're just adding wood to that fire.  Most plants don't like to live inside, although you have at least picked one that you may have luck with.  It may just be unhappy with it's change of locations.

Thanks Judy so much! The misting I agree with, I don't know why I didn't think about that before, I have had it for about 3 months and it was doing great until 1week ago when it started having those symptoms, this entire time it has been in te same office same routine same place, it was thriving from what I could see, and nothing has changed so could it be fungi? I don't know if it would be a watering issue for it would have shown a while back right? Or no? I don't know I'm a bit worried don't want it to die. What could I do?

Hello Salvaje.

Good news. It wont die. I have been severely mistreating mine. It has the same spots, yellow leaves, isnt watered correctly, and this has been a year or more.

Your office sounds like a public place?  Anything different going on when you are not there? AC/heat off or on?  Cleaning folks watering it too? (Or worse) New air filters? (More air flow)

It does sound like a moisture problem. Likely misting too much.
Root rot wouldnt make itself evident for a while so it very well could be that.
You should be able to repot it now with no problems. I just repotted a ROR ficus ben, with nasty rot, it dropped one leaf, and is doing fine.

Put a whole tree pic and your location. Hows the soil? Smell bad? Drainage holes at all?

Have a look at http://www.bonsaitoolchest.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=63
The ficus sheet has a list of leaf colors and symptoms.

Also read over http://www.bonsaihunk.us/

You will be able to confidently fix this problem in a week! No worries!

thanks for the reply sorce!! i agree with what your saying to answer all your questions
1- no it does not smell it actually smells good like normal soil conditions
2- the pot it is in does have draining holes
3- the soil looks about right to me i do have to admit it needs more soil which i will get it soon

i will attach some pictures of its location at my desk and at the place i take it to every morning- i doubt that the cleaning people are watering it but i could for sure leave a note. in regards to the air filter i am investigating the matter now- there was an incident about around the time that the symptoms starter where some of the people in the office where tinkering with the air dials some where up and then down etc they where all set to its original settings but there was maintenance done around those days. everyone loves the plant and has been named coko and apperantly is a male ??? ... i dont know but its loosing all its leaves and stopped growing!! i will read on the links you sent me but if you catch on anything else please let me know! thnx

It may be just the moving.

Ive read and experienced they can go from low light to high ok. But not high to low.

I would leave Coko in one place. (Maybe a rainbow pot would make him happier!) Coko?  Lol

The sun has also moved a bit.

Possible weekend (desk) sun is not bright enough anymore. Or does it stay by the window?

Seems one location and a little closer attention to moisture should work!

hahahaha i know right..... sometimes office people make me wonder i mean what were they thinking? then again they are mostly women in the office, thanks for the advice i will for sure just try to leave him in one spot hopefully it doesn't get worse if not might have to go on the fungicide route. no it doesn't stay at the desk the sun is slowly not showing up anymore so that might be the issue. maybe ill leave it during the weekend in the window. but thanks sorce

I had a friend who had a larger version of that one from Ikea as well. They're usually planted in heavy organic potting soil. I looked after his for a month last summer and repotted it into way better soil and fertilized the heck out of it while I had it. It responded incredibly well and pushed out growth everywhere.

It might be worth repotting it into some soil that has a more free-draining mix. Since it's in your office maybe a 50/50 of potting soil and something else (turface? crushed granite? pea gravel?). That way even if random people do happen to over water it then it's not suffering from too-wet roots. Or if you leave it for the weekend it doesn't get too dry. Just a thought!

Where are you located? It would be worth finding out from others on there (that live near you) some of your options. I live in Alberta, Canada so my soil options could be very different from yours.
