Sounds like a lot of fun just getting everything ready.

Good luck & safe trip.

Ranzan - a sushi chef who turned to making bonsai pots!  I love his pots.  I posted one some time ago that had a crack on the bottom and he painted a dragons tail coming out of the bottom of the pot.  when you looked inside the pot, you see a the rest of the dragon!
How fun is that!

Looks like a good grouping you are taking Kirby, happy travels.

John, I can't wait to see the shohin rack.

That's not something you read every day....   :o

What is a shohin rack? Do you mean a shohin bonsai box display stand? I've never heard of the rack, but in Japan those type of display tables are called box display stands.

Yes, Bill, a box display stand. Around here, some use the term "rack" as a slang term for "Box Display Stand".

It might a Southern thing, like "ya'll", "Fixin' to", "Sho nuff".

By the way, Tom Scott of Chattanooga, is in the process of building a nice one for me.

I used the term Rack in the billiards sense, though it could be used in shelving display context as well. Not sure about Don and Adair......

I don't think what was being referred to was ever in any doubt.

Trees at National Expo last weekend. Shohin display with John Romano ( Frank Cucchiara lent us his Shohin Didplay box) and my Ashe Juniper which we have been working on for seven years. Trip back home with Boon was faster.

The shohin display and juniper look great! The picture is a little fuzzy on my phone, but besides the trident what other species are inside the box?

Yeah I'd love to see the shohin's up close, what is the pine on the stand, and what is the tree in the yummy yellow pot please?

Juni is spectacular.  TALL!

The Juniper is 8" above the pot.

Box Shimpaku Itoigawa, cape Jasmine, chinese quince (small leaved variety), trident, japanese maple and on tge stand is a JBP. Disappointed in how our maples didn't grow this year. Oh well.
