Getting ready for a road trip......
« on: September 01, 2014, 09:22 AM »
With the National Exhibition in Rochester just 11 days away, time to finish up preparations. A little lime sulphur, a little piwer washing, a little mossing and pot cleaning. I figure it should take less than ten days to get ghere on the old John Deere......

I an collaborating with my good friend John Romano to build a 6 tree display that we are not embarrassed of. I think this little gem, from John R, potted today, finishes the rack.

I love that pot.

But isnt it a little too much for a shohin display?

Nice tree!

The pot or the 7th shohin? Using JRs shohin Trident means that I will pull my little Trident out of the display. The larger Juniper is a an Ashe Juniper that is a separate display.

You will have to wait..... The topper is a Shimpaku, the JBP is a semi cascade.....

The dragon pot is not too unique for a display?

I know you are supposed to have different colors, but it seems too eye catching.

Thanks John.

Sorce, it is Shohin. Shohin are supposed to be fun. I asked John to take it out of the Koyo pot and put it in this one. It is replacing a little trident in a "foxes wedding" pot, kutani yaki.

Ranzan - a sushi chef who turned to making bonsai pots!  I love his pots.  I posted one some time ago that had a crack on the bottom and he painted a dragons tail coming out of the bottom of the pot.  when you looked inside the pot, you see a the rest of the dragon!

Frank,

I hope all goes well with you in your future endeavors.

The JBP I got from you a couple winters ago is doing well.
