collected this Tree yesterday...

i think its a some type of Cedar...but im not sure...what ya'll think??

I think your eagerness is great, but I bet you'll have greater success slowing down and performing tasks in their ideal time of year. Collecting in the heat of summer is something I wouldn't recommend. Also, working with species you're familiar with and/or have researched will work better for you in the long run.

Keep up the enthusiasm, but do so with greater forethought.

yeah i know, im still new to this...but the only reason i took it this late in the year is because my friend is moving in 3 weeks and he let me dig it up.....and thanks.......when is a good time of the year to collect trees? spring?

Your tree is a Deodara Cedar (Cedrus deodara).  It is native to the Afganistan area of the world and inhabits the lower elevations of the mountains in that region.  It is not used much as bonsai here in the US which is unfortunate as it will make fine bonsai once you understand how it grows.  If your an ABS member there is a  good article on it on their website.  Here's a picture of one that I'm working on that is still a number of years away from being completed but it will give you some idea of the possibilities.
